Private harp lessons

I accept students of any standard but do expect a level of commitment - you will have to own or be willing to acquire your own instrument, although I can help with buying a harp, and have a hire instrument available in the short term. I am equally comfortable teaching non-lever harps, lever harps, chromatic harps and pedal harps. - Click here to learn about the diffent types of harps.

RATES:
1 hour: $ 60 / $ 50 pre-paid
45 min: $ 45 / $ 40 pre-paid (recommended for beginners only)

Lessons can be taken weekly or forthnightly, I recommend shorter weekly lessons for beginners and longer forthnightly ones for intermediate or advanced players.

Note that if you plan to pursue private studies on an academic level with me, my rates will be based on those paid by the New Zealand School of Music (currently $75/h). I will usually try to accomodate advanced students through the New Zealand School of Music but shorter-term private arrangements are possible.

PRE-PAYMENT SCHEME: Minimum of 5 lessons. No substitute lesson will be offered for lessons cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. An alternative time will be found if you cannot make a lesson for a good reason, however this should not happen more than 3 times per 10 lessons. Lessons not taken by you will not be refunded. If lessons are cancelled by me, I will find an alternative time, or if that is not possible, your fee will be reimbursed. Lessons normally take at my home in Wellington. For lessons at your own home, there is a per lesson surcharge of $ 10 (Wellington city area) or $ 30 (Petone, Porirua, Lower Hutt)
